Harry Orlyk is celebrated for his ability to capture rural country landscapes with Impressionistic brushstrokes and bright color palettes. Painting daily, the artist drives throughout upstate New York, stopping to observe and paint en plein air whenever and wherever a landscape strikes him.
Orlyk was born in Troy, New York in 1947. In 1971, after graduating college, he went on to graduate school at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Over the next nine years, he was influenced by several Nebraskan artists.
"Still-life painter Robin Smith taught me how to use paint without turpentine — to paint from the tube," Orlyk has said.
Orlyk also admits the influence of photographer Lawrence McFarland, who taught him what spiritual space was and how to emphasize it. Lastly, he credits well-known Lincoln painter Keith Jacobshagen with having impressed on him the importance of routine.
Orlyk currently resides with his family in Salem, New York, near the Vermont border. For anyone raised in the country, Orlyk’s Impressionist oil paintings spark a sense of memory that is at once shared and deeply personal.
Orlyk's work evokes a return to days spent as a kid, when you played behind Old Hap’s Barn or played hide-and-seek in the cornfield. Margaret Dobson was a painter, illustrator, muralist, etcher. Born in Baltimore, MD on Nov. 9, 1888. Dobson studied at the Maryland Institute, PAFA, Fontainebleau School of Art (Paris), and Syracuse University. She studied privately with Daniel Garber, Cecilia Beaux, Violet Oakley, Emil Carlsen, Robert Vonnoh, Hugh Breckenridge, and others. She was active in London, England until 1933. She then settled in Los Angeles where she remained until her death on Jan. 20, 1981. Primarily a muralist, she also painted floral still lifes and landscapes of the Sierra and southern California. Member: NAC; Royal Society of Etchers (London); Laguna Beach AA; Women Painters of the West; Santa Monica AA; Calif. Art Club; LAAA; Artists of the SW.

Hannig, born in Hirschberg, Germany on 27 February 1883, came to America with his parents at the age of seven. He attended school in the southwest suburbs before the family settled in Chicago. Young Henry enrolled in the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts where Lawton Parker became his mentor. He made ends meet by working in industrial design and illustration.
By 1908 he was a pupil in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where students followed the traditional European drawing curriculum, beginning with the copying of master engravings and drawing after plaster casts, then concentrating on the nude figure.
