Henry Lejeune Art

1819-1904

Henry LeJeune was born in London in 1819. Idealizing styles of European art, LeJeune created historical genre scenes as well as vignettes of Biblical stories. LeJeune was noted for his sentimental portraits of children, which he successfully sold during his lifetime. In addition to his financial success, LeJeune was welcomed to exhibit works at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and the Royal Society of British Artists.
