Large Mid-Century Modern brutalist art glass bowl by Pertti Santalahti for Humppila Glass in Finland. Made ca. 1970s. The colors move from a brown earth like color to a warm amber color and finally to transparency like ice. The surface is very rough and structured like large broken pieces of ice. Very dramatic. The bowl wears the original Humppila sticker with the text: Humppila Handmade in Finland. It is hand signed to the bottom: "Pertti Santalahti" and "Humppila Finland" The bowl is in a very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. It weighs approximately 3400g. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pertti Juhani Santalahti (1941 Helsinki – 2015 Humppila[1]) was a Finnish designer. Santalahti studied at the Arts and Crafts Institute in the department of sculpture. He graduated as a designer in 1962.
