A magnificent, fine and impressive, antique George V English sterling silver cream/water jug; an addition to our silver holloware collection. This magnificent antique George V sterling silver jug has a circular rounded form onto a circular pedestal foot. The upper portion of this antique cream jug is embellished with an impressive applied strapwork band, in addition to a large fluted design to the underside of the lip, all in the Empire style. This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast spiralling handle accented with an impressive figural mask design. The circular spreading foot is embellished with further Empire style, architectural decoration. Such examples in this medial size is a redeeming and unusual factor; this versatile jug could be considered to be a small water jug or large cream jug. This magnificent jug is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique water/cream jug is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian sterling silver water pitcher/jug; part of our antique dining silverware collection. This exceptional sterling silver water jug has a baluster shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. The waisted cylindrical neck of this silver jug is embellished with impressive stylised leaf motifs, segmented with opposing scroll designs. The lower swept portion of the neck is encompassed with the contemporary engraved inscription 'To Charles Edward Rawlins, junior honorary secretary to the Liverpool Anti Monopoly Association anno domini MDCCCXLII to MDCCCXLVII'; these Roman numerals convert to the Latin dates 1842 and 1847. The bulbous portion of the body is embellished with exceptional engraved scene depicting a female figure draped in flowing fabric being carried by a male character; this male could be associated to Hermes, the Greek Olympian deity and the herald of the gods. The other side of this exceptional jug is further embellished with a main, central female being adorned and clothed by three semiclad figures. The body of this exceptional example of antique silverware is further ornamented with two large scrolling palmette style designs, all on a matte background. The lower portion of the jug is encompassed with an interlacing scalloped style pendant bud design. The neck is embellished to the upper portion with impressive gadroon decoration to the shaped rim. The jug is fitted with an exceptional hinged hallmarked cover, surmounted with an impressive cast leaf decorated thumbpiece, accented with further scrolling decoration to the domed portion. This antique silver jug is fitted with an impressive elevated loop style handle ornamented with an exceptional cast and applied figural mark design to the lower terminal. This exceptional jug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward, John & William Barnard. Condition This antique English silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast and applied decoration is very sharp and the engraved decoration is very crisp. Full English hallmarks struck to the neck of the jug are all very clear.
