These exceptional antique Victorian English cast sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of infant's heads.
The surface of these novelty silver peppers incorporate details reproducing the children's facial features and hair; one child displays a happy expression and the other is bewailing.
The face of each pepper surmounts an impressive undulating layered ruff/collar.
These unusual sterling silver peppers incorporate an array of pierced 'pepper' holes to the reverse surface of the heads.
The circular rounded bases feature the original screw fit covers/stoppers to the underside.
The decoration to each pepper and cover incorporates the 'lozenge mark' which certifies the patent of this piece on 22nd February 1881 with the UK Patent Office.
