Signed on the bottom right corner (stamp and lead), numbered on the bottom left corner Accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity In mint condition, as acquired from the publisher The piece is offered unframed. Edition number might vary from what is shown in the images. The street artist and photographer JR started out his artist practice in the streets of Paris. Using the pseudonym JR, the artist is keeping his identity hidden from the public. As part of the "Jusqu'ici tout va bien", an exhibition by students from the Kourtrajmé school that JR is in charge of the art section of the school, JR created a pasting on the facade of the Palais de Tokyo, in Paris, through an anamorphic image. The collage was visible from August until September 2020, between the buildings of Clichy-Montfermeil and the Eiffel Tower, whose shadow is outlined on the visual in anamorphosis. What is very characteristic of JR’s art is the impermanence nature of the project, which the only way that the installation is captured, is through the creation of this lithograph - commemorating its presence, as the sun dries the glue, and the wind and rain tears the fragile paper with every moment. JR JR is a photographer and artist whose identity is unconfirmed. After he found a camera in the Paris subway...

THÉO TOBIASSE (1927–2012) – “LES SIÈCLES COULENT ENTRE NOS RÊVES” Lithograph on Arches Paper ⚜ Hand Signed and Numbered ⚜ Gilt Wood Frame A LUMINOUS MEDITATION ON MEMORY, INTIMACY, AND THE PASSAGE OF TIME From the acclaimed suite Un Chant d’Exil et de Lumière (A Song of Exile and Light), this richly saturated lithograph is one image from a series of six distinct compositions published in 1997 by Klim Art Publisher, Toronto, and printed by master lithographer Pierre Chave at his celebrated atelier in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The multi-color lithographic process, employing up to twenty-three separate color passes, produces the extraordinary depth and chromatic intensity visible across the entire composition. Two figures sit together at a table, each holding a glass of wine. A samovar and two lit candles anchor the still life at center, surrounded by scattered fruit and a bowl bearing an olive branch. A vibrant rainbow canopy arcs across the upper portion of the image, while a dove takes flight at upper right. Behind the couple hangs a decorative tablet adorned with flowering branches and scrolled columns. The title, inscribed in the artist’s hand within the composition, translates as “The centuries flow between our dreams,” a poetic distillation of the suite’s overarching contemplation of generational memory passing through shared moments of intimacy. What initially reads as a warm, intimate gathering reveals itself as a layered reflection on heritage, belonging, and the rituals that connect one generation to the next. The samovar recalls Tobiasse’s Eastern European childhood, while the olive branch and candles carry associations of renewal and hope. The dove and rainbow reinforce themes of peace and covenant that recur throughout Tobiasse’s oeuvre. Rendered on heavy Arches paper with deckled edges, the print retains a tactile, handmade quality that complements its emotional warmth. Presented in a crosshatch gilt wood frame the work suits interiors that embrace color and narrative, from a Mediterranean-inspired living space to a collector’s library or a gallery wall dedicated to the School of Paris tradition. His contributions to the art world left a lasting impact, and his legacy extended beyond the canvas into the realms of music and family connections. Chapin’s artistic journey began with formal education at Cooper Union and the Art Students League of New York. Seeking further inspiration, he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Antwerp in Belgium. Early in his career, he garnered recognition by winning the Temple Gold Medal of the Pennsylvania Academy for his compelling portrayals of the Marvin Family. Notably, Chapin created a series of portraits in the 1920s featuring the Marvin family, a body of work that significantly influenced the early history of Regionalist art. His artistic prowess extended beyond portraiture, as evidenced by at least five cover art commissions for TIME magazine during what has been termed the golden age of TIME covers, spanning from 1942 to 1966. Chapin’s artistic creations found homes in the private collections of art enthusiasts and various prestigious institutions, including The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The Phillips Collection, The Art Institute of Chicago, and The Harvard Art Museums, among others. In 1918, Chapin married Abby Beal Forbes in New York, and they welcomed a son named James Forbes Chapin, who later gained fame as a celebrated jazz drummer. This artistic lineage continued with James’s son, singer-songwriter Harry Chapin. Despite the initial union with Forbes, Chapin later divorced. During the late 1930s, while teaching in California, Chapin encountered Mary Fischer...
