Janet Nelson Art

American, b. 1956
Janet (Jan) Nelson is a mainly self-taught artist, apart from 3 years study with the Open College of the Arts and has been painting for over 25 years. Jan works full time from her studio in the lovely East Neuk of Fife. With the sea nearby, work can be combined with her other great love of sailing. She makes regular trips around the coastline of Scotland, southern England, Wales and Ireland to sail and also to observe the changing scenery and find new ideas for her work. Although the majority of Jan’s work relates to the sea, she is also an accomplished landscape painter where a passion for nature comes to the fore, particularly in her floral works plus subjects which involve an element of speed and colour such as motorsport and horse racing are also included in the range of work..

Modern Landscape Painting of the Scottish Highlands by Contemporary Artist
By Angela Wakefield
Located in Preston, GB
Colourful Abstract Landscape Painting of the Scottish Highlands by Leading Contemporary British Artist, Angela Wakefield Art measures 24 x 24 inches Frame measure 29 x 29 inches This vibrant painting beautifully captures the dramatic beauty of the Scottish Highlands, featuring a striking mountain range bathed in golden sunlight. The artist masterfully blends warm tones of yellows and greens in the rolling hills, contrasted with the cool blues and purples of the rugged peaks. A quaint white cottage nestled at the foot of the mountains adds a charming focal point, evoking a sense of solitude and peacefulness. The expansive sky, painted in soft blues and whites, enhances the feeling of vastness and freedom. The modern black frame complements the bold, contemporary style of the artwork, making it an eye-catching piece that brings the majestic allure of Scotland's landscapes into any home. Ideal for those who appreciate both the grandeur and tranquility of nature. Angela Wakefield has twice been on the front cover of ‘Art of England’ and featured in ARTnews, attracting international attention and critical acclaim with her urban landscape paintings of New York, London & the North of England. The style of painting has been described as ‘contemporary realism’, and is often favourably compared with Edward Hopper by collectors and art critics. Angela’s work is held in private collections in Europe and the USA, including the British Royal Family. Her admirers include leading figures in international business, filmmaking and the media. Unforgettable
Located in New York, NY
The art of Philip Wittmann is founded on signals. For him, signs serve as a bridge between abstraction, reality and writing, too. When he was 26 years old, he began painting as a hobbyist using 'pure' abstraction. However, he believed his work lacked a solid foundation upon which to grow. He discovered a book on the origins of the Chinese alphabet, which origins are essentially signs, in 2008 while taking a calligraphy class. The 26 letters of our Latin alphabet are less pictorial than the Chinese characters as we know them now. He discovered that pictorial representation is more prevalent when examining the origins of alphabets—all alphabets, in fact—because there is frequently a similarity between the sign's true meaning and what it is meant to represent. For instance, the symbol for a turtle in the original Chinese script resembles a turtle. Wittmann loves signs as they leave room for interpretation. For instance, if one writes “the sky is blue”, one will make for themself a mental representation of a blue sky, even if each one-off us will probably have some nuance in our own mental representation of that blue sky. On the other hand, a sign can...
