Jean-Pierre Gasnier, also known as Pierg, had a passion for ceramics from an early age and it is his work in this field for which he developed his reputation. Gasnier has received many prestigious prizes and awards such as a Gold Medal from the International Group of the Arts of Firing Pottery as well as first prize in a competition from the renowned pottery town of Port of Bouc near Marseille, France. In 1979, Gasnier won the Gold Medal at a regional exhibition of work (Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Corsica) and a selection at the European biennale of sculpture. In 1980, the city of Port de Bouc awarded him their Gold Medal for achievement. Gasnier has been commissioned several times to make works of art by the French Ministry of Culture. Since those early days, Gasnier's career has evolved from ceramicist to acclaimed sculptor.
