Jeanne Faust was born in Wiesbaden, Germany. She attended the art academy in Hamburg and lives and works in various places in the world but is based in Hamburg. In recent years, her work has been seen in Museum Ludwig in Cologne, during Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt and at the Biennial in São Paulo. Her film and photographic works are examinations of authenticity, all playing with our patterns of expectation, playing on our familiarity with stories told by film images. Faust’s small-scale, very meticulously portrayed stories are not stories at all, they only become so through what we anticipate as viewers.
