Jeremy Guy Abstract Sculptures
British, b. 1966
Jeremy Guy grew up in England where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone and engineered stone sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections worldwide including Queen Ethelburga's College Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire, UK, Orchard Residences in Singapore, the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore and more.

From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck. 'Maina' is a contemporary abstract cast glass sculpture by David Ruth from his Internal Space series. It features painterly brushstroke formations in glass called trails. Trails are created through rolling molten glass into various forms and shapes. They are then placed within clear glass and fused into one large piece through kiln casting. This technique creates a layered, suspended, and vibrant three-dimensional space within.
About the Internal Space Series:
David’s experiments with sheet glass and fusing led him to try to make the glass thicker to see more interior space. It was during this time a professor pointed out that he was working with a metaphor, for which the internal space of the glass was the equivalent to the internal life of the mind. This became his operating mantra but also forced him to come to terms with the casting of thick sections.
