Forbes’ oil paintings express a time of day or a mood through his use of color, texture, and composition. Forbes moved to Dallas in 1967, after completing graduate study at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, following his BFA in art from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Criss-crossed by ancient, tangled hedgerows marking the stories of the leathered, labour-roughened hands worn like the granite, coloured as the bronze bracken covered land they toiled endlessly to tame, carving spaces of sanctuary against the raw elements. Sophia has a 1st class honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts and World History, and a Masters Degree in Contemporary Visual Arts.
