Here we have an excellent quality Holdcroft majolica shell handled salmon server, circa 1875. A rarer platter, a fantastic piece for use or display.
The mold shows a brightly colored platter with a whole fish atop a stylized seaweed bed. The molded ground and shaped rim are sculpted in a wave-like turquoise pattern. Shell shaped handles are at either end. The verso is glazed in a mottled olive green and has a footing.
