This is an exquisite and rare antique pair of English silver plated on copper entree dishes stamped Walker & Hall Sheffield Plate Old Style, and dated Circa 1860. The dishes are of rectangular shaped form with gaddrooned and acanthus leaf borders with detachable handles. The body of the serving dish is plain and embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of on a cap of maintenance turned up a lion passant*. The plain body is encompassed with a cast and applied rosette border to the rim, accented with a leaf decorated corner pieces. The dish is fitted with an impressive domed hexagonal cover, embellished with chased interlacing foliate and trellis designs, all on a matte background to the rounded sides. The upper portion of the domed cover is ornamented with further chased foliate decoration, accented with a paralleling scalloped border.
