Mid-19th Century Oval Engraved Sheffield Tray with Handles

About the Item

Engaging piece made in United Kingdom with the sheffield technic of the layer of copper between layer of silver. The tray is fully engraved with drawing of flowers and baroque scrolls. The border and the handles are rich of fruit, leaves and bunches of grapes. It is a very fine piece, beautiful, elegant and useful. The tray is marked on the back of one handle with the capital letter "M" and "G" and clearly defined the era between the 1850 and 1859 in United Kinkdom. Never restored, piece in good conditions. On the back is possibile to see the copper part of it. See detail in the photos. It will be delivered with its Certificate of Authenticity. We offer free shipping all over the world.

    This is a good late 19th century pewter sauce or gravy boat with good reeded detail made by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, England with a full set of stamped marks to the base for the period. This sauce boat has a lovely rounded body with a single pouring lip, a double "C" cast loop handle and sits on an oval pedestal foot having reeded detail to the base rim. This piece has a lovely mellow patinated colouring only seen on old pewter.
