Ken Shores (b.1928-2014) was an artist and teacher born 1928 in Lebanon, Oregon. Ken earned his M.F.A. in 1957 from the University of Oregon following duty in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. Ken was an Artist-in-Residence at the Oregon Ceramic Studio from 1957 to 1964. From 1968 to 1995, Ken established and built the art department's new ceramics facility at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Ken continued his own work which is included in numerous private and public collections some of which are the Museum of Contemporary Craft, Portland Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, the Johnson Wax Collection and the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
Influenced by a trip to Peru in 1968, Shores spent the late 1960s creating one of his most widely recognized bodies of work, Feather Fetishes...
