Drifter, black and yellow geometric abstract painting on muslin
By Lizzie Scott
Located in New York, NY
Lizzie Scott’s eccentric painted constructions and wall pieces employ both traditional and non-traditional art materials to create a playful tension between formalism and improvisation. "Drifter" is one of the artist's wall pieces, which showcases her fluency in color theory and knack for pushing the boundaries of painting. Scott creates a geometric composition of yellow and grey, using the weight and placement of each color to hint at an abstract space, drawing the viewer into this imagines dimension. The surface of this painting is made from a combination of muslin, textile and bubble wrap, resulting in a sculptural wall installation.
