Louise McNaught Mixed Media

Scottish

Louise McNaught is an English painter, born in 1984. She completed her fine art degree B.Sc. honors in 2012 at the University of Greenwich. She has continued to work as a professional artist ever since, with international representation. Louise‘s creations feature nature, animals and the celestial realm in glorious, blazing neon hues, where the animals are godlike, sublime and ethereal in their luminescence.

McNaught’s work is motivated by emotive and spiritual experiences which have manifested in a mixed-media approach. Her soft style suggests a delicate relationship between nature and ourselves. When focusing on endangered species, the imagery often takes on a duality of not only what is happening to the animal itself but also reflects how we feel psychologically about the effect the human race is having on these species. By subverting traditional representation McNaught hints at darker consequences, yet paradoxically giving animals an elevated status. Her animals are a medium for self-expression, as lack of context and background suspends the creatures in an internal or even numinous space, where they become a metaphor for the human condition and psyche. Just as we use highlighters to mark areas of importance, McNaught is doing this with fluorescent media. By drawing the viewer’s attention to the animal’s presence and energy, McNaught is hoping to share with the viewer the awe that the natural world inspires within her. "Her work presents a pleasant balance between traditional technique and new age spunk," says Quiet Lunch magazine.

Textile wall sculpture: 'PONCHO DE SANCHO'
By Judy Rushin-Knopf
Located in New York, NY
This piece is from a body of work called 'Vital Signs’ which springs from the domain of hospitals and illness through combinations of hand-woven and tufted textiles and minimalist box-like objects that hang on walls or embed in the textiles themselves. The textiles refer to items of worn clothing, flattened identity, and superstition that come with illness and extended hospital stays. Their dominant color is blue, a hue known to calm the nervous system, but also the color of a failing body (cyanosis). The black and white objects...

Original Modern City Art Post-Impressionist Collage Painting - Sublime 2153
By Tae Ho Kang
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Inspired by the artists of the Modern Art era, including Post-Impressionist Paul Cezanne, Kang visualizes the modern day search for identity in an age where information and images permeate every aspect of contemporary life. His architectural urban scenes are flattened, with everything pressed against the surface of the artwork. At times, multiple views of the same houses are visible, trees and bushes are vaguely alluded to, and the color palette finds a hectic balance. Just as a city operates in a balance of chaos and the sublime, so do the artworks of Kang. The Sublime is a euphoria that affects the deep recesses of one’s consciousness. Kang's work is largely abstract in order to convey the experience of the sublime. This colorful artwork is 30 inches high by 42 inches wide. The sides of this textured, original mixed-media artwork are painted and it does not require framing. It is hand-signed and dated by the artist on the front left corner. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. Provenance: Artspace Warehouse. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Tae Ho Kang was born in Seoul, Korea in 1945. He studied at the College of Arts of Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. He later moved to California to study Fine Art at California State University, where he graduated in 1980. Since then, his artworks have focused on the never-ending quest for home and belonging in a dense urban landscape. About his mixed media artworks, he remarks: “One day, when I was traveling, I was impressed by the beautiful scenery of the city under the sky, with many straight lines, curved lines, and harmonies of different colors, which seemed to be a magnificent orchestral performance. The beauty of this urban landscape gave me a deep impression and great change began to take place in my work. I wanted to be a molecule in this huge space. I have to find a house of my heart to be molecule. Where is the house I live in? What is my identity? This question has begun to arise. I am on a long journey to find my own house.” His mixed media collage artworks have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions as well as international art fairs throughout the US and in Korea. Kang's work has also been featured in Television and Film productions, including Criminal Minds, NCIS Los Angeles, Unforgettable, The Mindy Project, The Great Indoors, and American Housewife. His artworks have been exhibited and acquired by private collectors around the world.
