Luigi Surdi (1897 - 1956) was a Neapolitan painter, born in 1897 and died in 1959.
The first exhibition took place in 1921 at the Grigio-verdi exhibition in Naples. He participated in the XIV Venice Biennale and was present at all editions of the Rome Quadrennial at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni from 1930 to 1960.
Surdi's pictorial work is halfway between deep realism and a lyrical sense of representation. The artist remains linked to a naturalist conception of representation which leads him to describe objects in their smallest details. However, the brushwork is quick and synthetic and gives the subject existential vibrations in a dynamic application of color.to
