Exceptional 1970s Italian sculptural duck table lamp by Elli Malevolti, a wonderfully decorative example of the whimsical yet sophisticated animalier lighting for which Malevolti became known. The centerpiece is a beautifully modeled duck, exceptionally detailed throughout, with individually articulated feathers creating an almost naturalistic surface. The body is crafted from cast resin in subtle shades of white, cream and soft gray, beautifully contrasted by the finely modeled brass beak and webbed feet. The small inset Malevolti maker’s emblem on the body provides an important and attractive detail confirming the maker. The sculptural duck stands upon an unusually elegant two-tier oval metal base combining contrasting silver-tone and golden brass finishes.
