Mark Palmer Decorative Objects

American, b. 1961
Mark Palmer a native Buffalonian established his art career while a 20 year resident of Washington, D.C. His vibrant abstract works ranging from watercolors to mixed media often seek a balance between structure and chaos. In 2002, Jessica Dawson, Washington Post Art Critic wrote "D.C. artist Mark Palmer's works on paper may be small-many are just a few inches across-but they crackle with energy." Additionally, Art Critic David Tannous said "Palmer fills these vibrant works with a mysterious atmosphere. He revels in the inventive contrasts he makes between darting ink lines and shifting organic forms. Working intuitively, Palmer weaves fantasy and an occasional touch of whimsy into his evocative compositions." In 2002, Palmer abandoning his cosmopolitan life in D.C. migrated to Paducah, KY to help pioneer the resurgence of a blighted historic neighborhood called "Lowertown" into an artist community. It was there that he purchased a 5000 sq. ft. uninhabitable, dilapidated pre-civil war apartment building. Upon its 9 month complete renovation the building housed his art gallery, artist retreat and living space. Palmer's gallery had a 4 year run but due to health issues closed in the summer of 2007. Moving back to his hometown for the next 7 years, Palmer continued to show in various venues until 2015 when he relocated to Florida's "Space Coast" where he maintains his studio and home. Palmer has exhibited his work in many solo and group exhibitions in the greater Washington D.C. area, Western New York, New York City, Provincetown, MA and Paducah, KY. Additionally, he had shows in San Francisco, Sarasota, Philadelphia, Kansas City, St. Louis, Rehoboth Beach, Melbourne and the greater "Space Coast region. His work hangs in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico as well as Australia and Europe.
