Mary Judge Paintings

American, b. 1953

Mary Judge’s artwork is process-driven and could be considered “post minimal”. While the work is formally organized, the paintings and drawings are sensual, suggesting hidden geometries and having casual effects that result from the indirect processes the artist utilizes.

Judge’s work is included in the collections of The National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA, NYU Langone Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health, New York, NY, Cassino Museo di Arte Contemporanea, Cassino, Italy, American Embassy, Sanaa, Yemen, Columbus Museum, Columbus, Ohio, Neuberger Berman Collection, Permanent Collection of the US Embassy, Kazakhstan, Island of Samsoe, Denmark, The Fogg Museum, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, The British Museum, London, England, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA, The Allen Memorial Museum of Art, Oberlin, OH, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, Progressive Corporation, OH, The Palmer Museum, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, Cantor Fitzgerald NY, NY

Mary Judge earned an MFA, Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA & Rome, Italy, 1976 - ‘78

BFA, Moore College of Art, Philadelphia, PA and studies at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, MA

She currently divides her time between New York where she maintains her studio and Italy where she maintains a vacation home in the city of Nardó, a small baroque town on the Ionic sea of the Puglia region.

Life - New York City Original Aerial View Oil Painting on Canvas by Albert Vidal
By Albert Vidal Moreno
Located in Chicago, IL
This painting of New York City's Chrysler Building captures a wide swath of Manhattan from an areal view. Using palette knife and brush Albert Vidal manages to combine realist painting with abstraction. Splashes of bright blue, red and green paint graffiti the surface in a Jackson Pollack like effect. The numbers at the bottom of the painting represent the artist's signature. This artwork is framed in a simple black wood float. Albert Vidal Life, 2015 oil on linen 52h x 52w in Albert Vidal is an aerial urban landscapes painter based in Barcelona, Spain. He has painted mostly landscapes from around the world for over 20 years and is inspired by artists such as Antonio Lopez Garcia and Anselm Kiefer. The artist thinks about his compositions in a three dimensional way with paint relief that creates dimension and body in the piece. The emptiness which represents a sea or wasteland keep the balance of the composition as well as the ensemble. The artificial space Vidal creates evolves over time and explores the difference between cities, urban planning, and their structures. INDIVIDUAL EXIBITIONS albert vidal February. Everything is Early (Colorful Autumn colors Large Abstract Oil painting, Nature)
By Richmond Burton
Located in Cody, WY
Richmond Burton’s works are known for their kaleidoscopic color, undulating patterns, and lyrical handling of expressionistic mark making. His Visceral, seductive, and organic compositions play with decorative patterning without compromising a conceptual backbone. Their intensity of vision allows for transcendent thought, experience, and connection while challenging any preconceived norms or rules defining abstract painting. “Structure is never absent; it’s just uninsistent, even accidental. The paintings are built up in stages, but never give the impression of being hard-worked. They have a fluid, textural presence, like luxury fabrics printed with overlapping, off-register layers of patterning.” — Holland Cotter, The New York Times (1999). Richmond Burton (b. 1960, Talladega, AL) obtained a BA in architecture from Rice University Houston, TX (1984). He lives and works in Woodstock, NY. Burton has shown extensively both domestically and internationally and has work in the collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL; The Broad, Los Angeles, CA; Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, TX; Fogg Museum at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, NY; and National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, among others. Recent solo exhibitions include venues such as Sarah Moody Gallery of Art at University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL (2015); Silas Marder Gallery, Bridgehampton, NY (2014); Philip Slein Gallery, St. Louis, MO (2013); and George Lawson...
