Angelo Canevari’s Don Quixote is a 38 x 44 inch mix media sculpture. It is made of metal, resin, blue automotive paint, and cardboard. Angelo Canevari's work is often inspired by classical themes and myths. In this sculpture, he revisited with a modern interpretation the famous character of Don Quixote of La Mancha, in the Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Almost Baroque in it's curvilinear shape rendered by the interlacing blue lines, the horseman and the horse emanates a superb emotional tension that culminates in the horse's red eye and the horseman's red head. This sculpture is part of a very limited number of works that the artist created at the end of his life. It has been featured in a book written by renowned writer Andrea Camilleri. Angelo Canevari is an Italian sculptor who comes from a long lineage of artists active in Rome since the 17th century. He has been commissioned several works by the Vatican including the Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Belluno and the Vatican Coins.

Nicholas Crombach is interested in the complex interactions between humans and animals. Using sporting and hunting as markers of longstanding traditions of both adversarial and collaborative relationships between humans and animals, Crombach examines the cultural significance and the complex issues percolating domestication and domination, play and survival in the 21st century. Crombach combines references to mythology via a striking aesthetic, creating works which revel in their contradictions and contrasts. Notably, the artist draws from the myth of Diana and Actaeon, which provides a poignant framework for this new series. In Ovid’s tale Actaeon, a hunter and grandson of King Cadmus, is in the forest with his dogs when he spies Artemis (Diana), the venerated goddess of the hunt, in her bath attended by her nymphs. Diana’s nymphs try to cover her modesty as the goddess feels violated by Actaoen’s brash curiosity. Diana splashes water upon Actaeon, robbing him from his ability to speak and turning him from a mortal man into a stag who flees into the forest only to be hunted down and killed by his own dogs. The hunter becomes the hunted. Crombach’s Fetch (2018) refers to the mythology of Diana and Actaeon in its last tragic hour, but the classical story of metamorphoses is presented as a game of fetch in the local park. She graduated from the Académie Lebanese des Beaux-Arts with a degree in Illustration and Art Direction. While working in the publicity field at several multinational advertising agencies, Saroufim began rekindling her interest in art. Creative, a dreamer, and a lover of color and beauty, Saroufim has been engaging in a creative expression of her personality through art for over a decade. She hopes that by looking at her art, people will realize that there is beauty and happiness in the simplest things. Nayla Saroufim’s work has graced the walls of solo exhibitions including a show in London in December 2015 and one in Beirut in October 2013.
