'Notre Dame de Paris', gouache on paper, by Lucien Génin (circa 1930s). An absolutely charming and now, historic depiction from the 1930s, of the most famous cathedral in France. It is one of the most widely recognised symbols of the city of Paris and the French nation. As the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Paris, Notre-Dame contains the cathedra of the Archbishop of Paris. Approximately 12 million people visit Notre-Dame annually, making it the most visited monument in Paris. While undergoing renovation and restoration, the roof of Notre-Dame caught fire on the evening of 15 April 2019. Burning for around 15 hours, the cathedral sustained serious damage. The government of France hopes the reconstruction can be completed by Spring 2024, in time for the opening of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Unlike the actual cathedral, this artwork is in good condition, is newly framed and glazed and signed by the artist in the lower left hand corner. Upon request a video may be provided. Judith Brown (December 17, 1931 – May 11, 1992) was a dancer and a sculptor who was drawn to images of the body in motion and its effect on the cloth surrounding it. She welded crushed automobile scrap metal into energetic moving torsos, horses, and flying draperies. Brown attended Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York (B.A., 1954), where she learned to weld from her teacher, Theodore Roszak, a pioneering abstract expressionist sculptor. This is done in a style similar to Leonard Baskin. "American Bald Eagle Flying Through Silver Clouds Between Heaven and Earth" is an original mixed media piece by David Barnett, signed on the lower left center. It incorporates watercolor, ink, iridescent acrylic, rubber stamps, collage, and oil pencil. This piece depicts a surrealist landscape. A cow with an cowl perched on its back stands in the lower left corner, and tracks lead away from it across the bottom of the picture. A small turtle approaches a pond in the lower right. In the center register of the image, two leaves have been collaged into an abstractly-drawn forest. The eagle of the title is shown in several stages of its flight through the blue and yellow sky.
