Mark Hill Comments :
The Duha range is typified by a 'rainbow' of horizontal bands in vibrant green, orange and blue, and heavily cased forms. Shapes are typically curving and organic, echoing the ductile, rounded nature of molten glass.
Itw as introduced in 1960, with the first designsb being by Vlastimil Svoboda. The range was enlarged in 1964, with new shapes designed by Vladimir Mika, although Svoboda also lays claim to these. These additional shapes were the last to be introduced at the Mstisov glassowrkds before it was closed and production was moved to the Moser glassworks at Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad).
Ovoid vase forms were produced using the 'wet stick' process, where a wet stick was thrust into the molten body of the piece when it was being formed. The water in the stick would turn to steam and expand the body. It would then be finished.
Quality was always high and examples with even and strong colours are now highly sought-after.
The range was produced from 19609-64 at Mstisov and then from 1964 to around 1971 at Moser. It was featured in Czechoslovak Glass...

Moser Biomorphic Beryl Bowl by Vera Liskova c1950
By Moser
Located in Tunbridge Wells, GB
Heading : Biomoprhic Beryl Bowl by Vera Liskova
Date : c1950
Origin : Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia
Bowl Features : Turquoise glass, known as Beryl, with organically curving walls.
Type : Lead
Size : 12.2cm height, 35.5cm length, 20.5cm width
Condition :Excellent, no chips or cracks
Restoration : None
Weight : 3936 grams
This extremely rare large bowl was among the first designs Liskova produced fo rthe world-famous company of Moser, founded in 1857. The sculptural, organically curving walls recall pre-war designs produced during the late 1920s by Heinrich Hussmann, but are more rounded and flowing, recalling the liquid nature of molten glass.
The vibrant, tonal green glass used is unique to Moser and is known as 'Beryl.' Introduced by Moser at an exhibition in Hradec Králové in 1925, it heralded the introduction of a series of different brightly coloured glass made using 'rare earths' such as a neodymium and praseodymium. Considered a hallmark colour, it is still used today.
Other examples from this range can be found in the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and in the Moser museum.
Vera Lisková (1925-85) studied at the State School...

Moser Pitcher With Enameled Bird And Salamander
By Moser
Located in New Orleans, LA
Fantastic wildlife decoration distinguishes this rare Moser glass pitcher. Crafted of luminous amber glass, this pitcher is adorned with the signature Moser gilded fern leaves and berries, including an enameled three-dimensional bee and a colorful bird perched on a branch. Most exceptional is the intrepid salamander, cloaked in jewel-like colors, which serves as the pitcher’s handle. Such unparalleled artistry placed Moser among the most desirable art glass in the world. To find such an amazing piece of this Bohemian craft today, in such excellent condition, is quite rare.
Encouraged by the Austro-Hungarian governments, Ludvik Moser quickly excelled as a glass artist while serving an apprenticeship under accomplished artist O.J. Mattoni. Through working with the Health Spa at Karlsbad, producing and decorating glassware for serving the healing waters found at the spa, Moser quickly acquired a following and demand for his work. By 1857, Moser was able to open his shop full of bright, glistening chandeliers and mirrors, which further illuminated his glass creations. Moser quickly acquired a noble clientele and displayed his work at exhibitions around the world. Some of his well-known patrons included Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, Pope Pius XI and King Farouk of Egypt...

Moser Amberina Glass Pitcher
By Moser
Located in New Orleans, LA
This captivating Moser pitcher exemplifies the beauty of Bohemian art glass. Pitchers are among the most exciting creations by this world-renowned firm as they were often the vehicles for many of Moser’s most inventive and elaborate designs, evidenced by the present vessel. In a particularly rare addition, at the center of the form stands the beautifully rendered figure of archangel Gabriel, identified by the lily stalk he holds in his right hand, representing the Virgin Mary and Gabriel's role in the Annunciation. Intricately adorned with hand-painted enamel oak leaves and applied, relief-molded acorns, and exhibiting the desirable Amberina ombre coloring, this work is exceptional in both quality and artistry.
Encouraged by the Austro-Hungarian Governments, Ludvik Moser quickly excelled as a glass artist while completing an apprenticeship under accomplished artist O.J. Mattoni. Through working with the Health Spa at Karlsbad, producing and decorating glassware in which to serve the healing waters found at the spa, Moser quickly acquired a following and demand for his work.
