New Format Studio Credenzas

Canadian

Canadian furniture design and manufacturing company New Format Studio sits at the cutting edge of modern and ultramodern style. Its contemporary furniture involves all forms of metal — from steel to aluminum — as a viable material for creating cocktail tables, side chairs and credenzas that hold great visual appeal and functionality.

Canadian designer Henry Norris established New Format Studio in 2016. With a background in construction and metal fabrication, Norris realized through the company his interest in working with metal. Norris combined his skills from his previous occupations to teach himself furniture design. This industrial background informs much of his work, showing through in the skill with which he makes welds and joints disappear into a seamless finish, giving many of his creations the appearance of coming from a single piece of material. Norris has exhibited his work at the Architectural Digest Design Show and Sight Unseen in New York City.

New Format Studio combines design, fabrication and processing to find new and inventive ways of exploring the potential of time-honored materials. Its design team collaborates with colleagues across the industry, produces custom commissions and experiments with new concepts. This variation of methods and processes provides the company with an eclectic array of pieces, each born from fresh creativity.

Vittorio Dassi Credenza with Mirror in Wood, Glass and Brass, Italy, 1960's
By Vittorio Dassi

Typical Vittorio Dassi credenza with its futuristic shapes and shiny appearance. Some sort of spaceship but then with mirror to see how beautiful you are. Shiny, outspoken and luxurious all resting on bended ballerina legs (with brass feet) that are in a slightly different color than the credenza: a bit more towards the red / purple while the other wood is brown and black. The top of the credenza is made of glass with underneath very slight pink paper...
