Patrick Dintino Art

American

Patrick Dintino paints vertical bands of glowing color in a horizontal or rectangular format that read as both a scientific representation of the spectrum and an emotional landscape of pure color.

Painted with oil on canvas mounted on wood board, the softly undulating stripes of light and dark generate their own kind of perceptual space, one that incorporates the naturally horizontal field of human vision. The titles of Dintino’s works — Eventide, Mirage, Ecstasy — allude to the subtle way remembered color is translated into an abstract configuration.

Born in San Francisco, California, Dintino grew up in Sunnyvale, in the South Bay Area. He went to college in San Diego, earning a BA degree in industrial arts from San Diego State University. He moved back to the Bay Area and earned a masters of fine art degree at the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCA) in San Francisco and Oakland in 2001.

Dintino was invited as a guest artist to work with Sol LeWitt to create “Sol LeWitt: A Retrospective” at SFMOMA. Since this time he was a finalist for SFMOMA’s SECA emerging artist award, and a Pollock/Krasner Foundation Grant recipient. His work is in numerous prominent private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. He currently teaches painting at California College of the Arts.

Ecstasy - bright color yellow and pink stripe abstract contemporary oil painting

Ecstasy - bright color yellow and pink stripe abstract contemporary oil painting

Located in New York, NY

Dintino's abstract oil paintings have to do with the melding of title and piece. His paintings all illustrate his ideas and words through visuality and color. Creating large panoramic pieces makes his work atmospheric and immersive, allowing the viewer to literally feel the title of his painting. This is quite a synesthetic approach to making art and allows ideas and words to sing. Born in San Francisco, California in 1964, Patrick Dintino grew up in Sunnyvale, in the south bay area. He went to college in San Diego earning a BA degree in Industrial Arts from San Diego State University, and co-founded Artists in Motion...

Crusade - red warm toned grey color stripe abstract contemporary oil painting

Located in New York, NY

In this abstract oil painting, Dintino brings about images of bloody battles, or crusades. The red is angry and at some points dark, though he juxtaposes that with a bright and influential light. This light is quite god-like, which makes sense when put in the context of the Crusades. The blurred colors in this piece almost read as 'nostalgic' or historical, that the image of the past is so old that it has blurred with age. Dintino's work has to do with the melding of title and piece. His paintings all illustrate his ideas and words through visuality and color. Rigging - grey and blue color landscape contemporary abstract oil painting

Rigging - grey and blue color landscape contemporary abstract oil painting

Located in New York, NY

The greys and the blues in this abstract oil painting only bring to mind off-shore oil rigging. The deep murky green perfectly encapsulates the deep depths of the ocean, and the greys and blacks look like oil rigs. This piece remains quite beautiful, even despite its slightly troubling theme, and Dintino merges the colors together seamlessly. Dintino's work has to do with the melding of title and piece. His paintings all illustrate his ideas and words through visuality and color. Creating large panoramic pieces makes his work atmospheric and immersive, allowing the viewer to literally feel the title of his painting. Decomposition - earth tone silver stripe abstract contemporary oil painting

Decomposition - earth tone silver stripe abstract contemporary oil painting

Located in New York, NY

In this abstract oil painting, Dintino uses muddy colors to evoke images of garbage, swamps, and junk yards. The dirty green melds into the orange and creates a muddy orange, which then melds into a black, almost as if the colors were being infected. The painting almost reeks with the colors Dintino decided to use, as each one has its own aroma and pungency. Dintino's work has to do with the melding of title and piece. His paintings all illustrate his ideas and words through visuality and color. "Forgot 7" Oil on Canvas features an abstract form surrounded by characters and a surreal landscape. The canvas is painted with shades of green, blue, yellow, and white. Frank Arnold is viewed as one of the foremost abstract figurative painters and sculptors of our time. He is a living master guided by a personal mission to “turn on a light in the human soul,” through his passionate creation of “Messengers” from his deeper mind connection with Carl Jung's archetypal images, the collective unconscious, and Jungian Synchronicity. These unconscious forms from his deeper mind resonate as personal messages of universal acceptance, reaching out to the viewer. Arnold has been honored as IAD Artist of the year 2018 by International Artist Day, and 2013 FAC Horizon Artist Award. He has exhibited his artwork in numerous galleries and museums and is in collections worldwide. Arnold divides his working days between oil painting in San Jose del Cabo, Baja Sur...
