Elegant in their tall, narrow proportions, this handsome pair of antique confiturier cabinets combines restrained Louis XVI design with a beautifully time-worn painted finish. Crafted in northern France circa 1880, each cabinet stands on four tapered and fluted legs beneath a carved apron enriched with a repeating vertical motif. The façade features a shallow upper drawer framed with molded panels and centered by a circular carved medallion fitted with a decorative metal pull. Below, a single cabinet door is embellished with a recessed geometric panel accented at the corners with hand-carved floral rosettes. Fluted corner pilasters and molded side panels reinforce the neoclassical character of the design, while the original-style iron escutcheons and keys add further period detail. Both cabinets retain a wonderfully textured, distressed painted finish in soft blue-gray and pale gray tones, with natural wear and traces of the underlying wood showing through along the edges and moldings.
