Raymond Gibby, was born in 1976 and grew up in the foothills outside of Riverside, CA where he spent countless hours interacting with nature and wildlife. His grandfather and many other members of his extended family were artists and so his interest in art came instinctively. He began selling his art in his senior year in highschool, under the mentorship of professional artist Judy Eriksen. His artwork began to include 3D sculpture in 1997 when he landed his first freelance job as a commercial artist creating works that were used at California amusement parks like Knotts Berry Farm and Sea World . Then in 2001 he landed a job with an art foundry in Springville, UT and he began to create a portfolio of bronze sculptures during his off hours and began selling his work in fine art galleries in tourist cities in various states.
Since beginning his fine art career as a bronze sculpture, his work has since reached collectors in just about every area of the U.S. and in many parts of the world. Along with being a very prolific wildlife sculptor, he has created a number of figurative western pieces and significant commissioned works for the movie industry, cities, and universities. large corporations, college and professional sports, including the NFL, the NCAA, and NASCAR.
He likes to tell stories and show off various aspects of the human condition using the innate personalities of animals. For Gibby, art is a language of the spirit. When done effectively it should communicate something to the soul of the viewer. So he tries to hone his skills and knowledge of animal anatomy and behavior so that that communication rings clear and speaks true.
Gibby is an award winning Nature Works Artist, a lifetime Mountain Oyster Club Artist member, and was accepted into the Society of Animal Artists and National Sculpture Society.
After his apprenticeship and early career at the bronze foundry, Gibby built his own art foundry in Arkansas where he continued to produce his bronze works and raise his young family. After 11 years of running his foundry, the demand for his work required him to close down his facilities and seek out the help from the foundry that he originally apprenticed at in the beginning of his career.. So he moved back and to this day resides with his family in Spanish Fork, Utah. Today his work can be found in galleries, and art shows across the U.S.to
