About the artist Robert Burch began working with glass in Atlanta, Georgia while still in high school. After graduating, he worked for the Japanese glassblower, Tadashi Torii for two years. This piece combines tools and glass in a very elegant manner. A nail was pushed into the bottom section while the glass is still molten, same with the hammer insertion. This vessel contains dichroic glass facing inward, giving the head of the nail room to express a change in shape and adds to the composition.
