Robert Lemay More Art

Canadian
Robert Lemay | A Master of Contemporary Realism Robert Lemay is a distinguished figure in the world of contemporary realism, celebrated for his ability to transform the ephemeral beauty of the natural world into timeless, meticulously crafted compositions. Based in Edmonton, Canada, Lemay has dedicated over three decades to the pursuit of technical excellence, establishing a reputation as one of the most significant botanical painters of his generation. His artistic practice is defined by a profound sensitivity to light, shadow, and the delicate architecture of flora. Lemay’s work goes beyond mere representation; his intricate details and soft, luminous textures invite the viewer into a space of quiet contemplation. This mastery of the medium has led to an illustrious career featuring more than 30 solo exhibitions across a global stage, including major galleries in New York, Milan, Montréal, Toronto, and Vancouver. The prestige of Lemay’s portfolio is reflected in his presence within some of the world's most significant public and private institutions. His paintings are held in the permanent collections of the Canadian Embassy in both Beijing, China, and Canberra, Australia, serving as cultural ambassadors of Canadian excellence. In a rare tribute to a living artist, Shaw Communications named "The Robert Lemay Room" in Shaw Court in downtown Calgary in his honor. Furthermore, his work is a cornerstone of the Canada Council Art Bank and is featured in prominent locations such as Edmonton’s City Hall, Graceland University, and the Clif Lede Wineries in Napa Valley, California. Lemay’s career has been marked by early and sustained recognition. He was a two-time recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant (1989 and 1990), a distinction awarded only to the most promising representational artists. In 2014, his contribution to the arts was further recognized when he was named the inaugural Artist in Residence at Graceland University. Today, his work continues to be sought after by discerning corporate and private collectors worldwide, standing as a testament to the enduring power of contemporary realism.

"Three Blue, White and Gold Cups Stacked"

By Olga Antonova

Located in Wellesley, MA

Olga Antonova’s subject is compositions of extraordinarily elegant and beautiful cups, plates, teapots, and dishes, but there is something humorous and provocative about these paintings that belies formality: stacked teacups are also amusing, having a kind of jaunty and upbeat personality of their own, polka dots are as endearing to adults as to children, and everyone responds to the 'bling' and sparkle of gold and Antonova’s seemingly effortless ability to paint these radiant details: Olga Antonova "Three Blue, White and Gold Cups...
