Large and bold, this Art Deco ceramic platter featuring a mermaid trumpeting a shell and embracing a dolphin while another dolphin and starfish are cavorting in the water nearby, was made Roger Mequinion, who produced an entirely unique series of ceramic pieces with thick layers of glaze that he sandblasted to create a layered, three-dimensional design. Here, the outer glaze is a deep red color, but the sandblasting reveals layers of light red and white underneath.
