Pair vintage Carlo de Carli Lounge Chairs 802 upholstered in Fendi Casa Velvet
By Carlo De Carli, Cassina
Located in Vorst, BE
Pair of very elegant vintage Lounge Chairs in the style of Carlo de Carli model ‘802’ chairs. These are very similar to the 802 chair, you have to look very closely to find the differences. The 802 chairs were produced by Cassina. They have been designed by Carlo de Carli in 1960 for the ‘Hotel Parco Dei Principi’ in Sorrento, Italy. Gio Ponti was the architect of the Hotel and a close friend of De Carli. Ponti furnished it with many of his furniture designs and with a few pieces by created by Carlo De Carli. The design is characterised by the dynamic line that runs from the backrest all the way down to the front legs and forms the armrests. The chairs are in restored state. The tappered legs in ebonized walnut wood have been refinished. The chairs have been newly upholstered in high quality velvet by Fendi Casa / Luxury Living Group.

Pair of Club Chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy, c 1970, Signed
By Sormani, Claudio Salocchi
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This newly reupholstered pair of club chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features graceful chrome frames with nubby white bouclé fabric. Signed with 1960s/ 1970s Sormani label as shown in photo gallery. *Note, we have the matching sofa available in another listing. The graceful frames share a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However these Sormani lounge chairs feature some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair of easy chairs are an amazing opportunity. These Cassina LC2 / LC3 style chairs...

Acerbis Free System Sofa by Claudio Salocchi
By Claudio Salocchi, Acerbis
Located in Brooklyn, NY
In 1973, Claudio Salocchi designed Free System: a system of padded furniture deriving from the concept of “operated flooring”, or tatami, where the padded units could be placed freely side by side. With its completely modular and sectional elements and from the perspective of an optimal use of space, we can view Free System as the embodiment of the modern house utopia. A programme of padded furniture that goes beyond the sofa model, Free System presents a series of elements (tatami, pouf and seat with different and interchangeable backrests) that make up a modular system that can be arranged in a variety of combinations. Available elements _ seat module with curved backrest: L100 D100 H74, seat H39 cm; _ seat module with inclined backrest: L100 D100 H74, seat H39 cm; _ pouf module...

Pair Of Vintage Armchairs 1970s Sormani Production
By Claudio Salocchi, Sormani
Located in Roma, IT
Pair Of Vintage Armchairs Sormani Production has been realized in Italy in the 1970s. Wood and white leather. Dimensions: 90 x 80 x 65 cm. Very good conditions. Claudio Salocchi (Milan, 1934 – 2012). Salocchi was an Italian industrial and furniture designer and architect. He graduated as an architect at the Politecnico di Milano. Claudio Salocchi produced numerous furniture and lighting designs, and, in parallel, spent much time and effort researching different applications of aluminum alloys, optimizing furniture and layout heights for work and home environments, and using new and unfamiliar configurations that would not compromise the practicality of the piece. In 1960, Claudio Salochi designed his iconic Revolving bookcase for Sormani furniture maker. In 1965 he founded his design shop, and in 1967 formalized what would be a prolific partnership with Sormani, for whom he went on and designed, among others the Palla polyurethane chair...

20th Century Carlo de Carli Pair of Armchairs mod. Sella for Sormani, 60s
By Carlo De Carli, Sormani
Located in Turin, Turin
After classical studies and a degree in Architecture, Carlo de Carli worked for a year in the studio of Gio Ponti, whom he succeeded in 1962 at the Milan Polytechnic in the chair of Interior Architecture, Furniture and Decoration. His work as a designer closely linked to theoretical thinking, puts the person at the center of the project, privileges the process of forming spaces and objects rather than their being, and opens to their mutual relationships. Here we have a pair of model Sella armchairs...

Carlo de Carli Rosewood and Black Leather Armchair "Pipa" Sormani, Italy, 1965
By Carlo De Carli, Sormani
Located in Arosio, IT
Very first piece of the armchair Pipa in rosewood and black leather with gunmetal color feet, designed by Carlo De Carli and manufactured by Sormani of Arosio, Italy in 1965. Seat height cm 39 (1.28 ft). De Carli designed this chair as a hommage to his Professor Gio Ponti. Sormani was the first to use Rio rosewood to manufacture newly conceived contemporary furniture items such as this one. The chair is in very good conditions for a 53-year-old: it shows a few chaps under the armrests and one armrest (in leather) has been restored (not remade). Cushions are in very good condition and the leather is still perfectly whole and flexible. A “Certificate of Authenticity” on original vintage Sormani letterhead comes along with this piece. To be matched with Claudio Salocchi "Centro" rosewood high bookshelf...
