Wonderful antique Victorian French bevelled edge decorative hand mirror with a gilt finish. Featuring a painted porcelain back with a lady design and a pink and blue edging with raised hand painted gold detail. The mirror is edged with a beaded border, and there is a ring for hanging on the wall. Measuring height 20.5cm / 8 inches by maximum width 7cm / 2.75 inches. The mirror has foxing and some cracks. On the burgundy finely-braided silk obijime cord that suspends the inro hang adjustable ojime fasteners of glazed earthenware, which are hand-painted with underglaze and overglaze enamels. The imagery includes signature-like branches, mountains, and a pine tree. Each knotted end of the cord dangles from the bottom of the inro with two rice-paper tubular beads.
