Contemporary figurative oil painting canvas "I will always stand by your side"
Located in VÉNISSIEUX, FR
This contemporary figurative oil painting depicting two women was created by French artist Natalya Mougenot. The artwork, titled I Will Always Stand by Your Side, presents a poignant and emotionally charged scene, capturing the intimate embrace of two women.
The painting reflects the artist's roots and cultural background, establishing a profound spiritual connection with the women she portrays. The bond between the two women—whether sisters, friends, or a mother and daughter—is undeniably one of mutual reliance. They are each other’s rock and shelter, supporting one another in times of difficulty and challenge. The piece speaks to the strength one person offers another, particularly during challenging moments.
Central to the work is the theme of womanhood, femininity, and the powerful spiritual connection between the artist and the women featured in her art. The piece also explores emotional transparency—qualities like strength, courage, determination, sensitivity, kindness, and authenticity—allowing for an intimate portrayal of the vulnerability and resilience shared between the figures.
The two women are depicted with minimalistic detail, their connection highlighted through form and color rather than facial features. One woman is adorned in red, while the other is painted in blue, symbolizing contrasting yet complementary forces. The bold, expressive brushstrokes create a sense of immediacy, while the serene, muted teal background offers a calming atmosphere that envelops the embrace.
The absence of discernible features on the figures directs the viewer’s focus to the embrace itself, making it the central emotional element of the painting. This anonymity invites viewers to project their own experiences and emotions onto the scene, creating a universal appeal. The harmonious interplay of warm and cool tones enhances the themes of connection and compassion, as the figures merge to form a unified whole.
I Will Always Stand by Your Side is a powerful exploration of human connection, presented with a captivating simplicity that speaks volumes. The artist’s unique approach to color and form invites a deep emotional engagement, offering both beauty and meaning.
The piece is created with oil paints on stretched linen canvas and is ready to hang. It is sold unframed, giving the buyer the freedom to frame it according to personal taste and interior style.
The artwork will be carefully packed and shipped internationally from France, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Created in the artist’s Lyon...

"The Artist's Wife at the Loom, " Harry Hoffman, Bright American Impressionism
By Harry Leslie Hoffman
Located in New York, NY
Harry Leslie Hoffman (1871 - 1964)
The Artist's Wife (Beatrice Pope) at the Loom, circa 1915
Oil on canvas
30 x 32 inches
Housed in a period Newcomb-Macklin frame
Provenance:
Estate of the artist
Private Collection, Massachusetts
This painting depicts the artist's wife at the loom, producing textile versions of Hoffman's underwater paintings. The screen shown behind Bea is an underwater scene also painted by Hoffman. The study of this painting is held in the collection of the Wolfsonian Museum in Florida.
Harry Leslie Hoffman was born in Cressona, a small community in Pennsylvania's Schuylkill Valley. His mother was an amateur artist who encouraged her son to pursue a career in the arts. In 1893, Hoffman entered the School of Art at Yale University and studied with John Ferguson Weir, the son of Robert Walter Weir. After graduation in 1897, Hoffman moved to New York to continue his studies at the Art Students League. He also traveled to Paris and took classes at the Académie Julien.
In the summer of 1902, Hoffman attended the Lyme Summer School of Art, in the town of Old Lyme on the Connecticut coast. The school was headed by Frank Vincent Dumond and was located in a boarding house owned by Florence Griswold. The school eventually grew into an artists' colony and a center for American Impressionism. When Hoffman first arrived as a student, he was not permitted to stay in the house which was designated for the professional artists only. However, his outgoing personality soon won him many friends at the colony.
In 1905, Hoffman settled in Old Lyme and worked as a full member of the artist colony. He was particularly influenced by Willard Leroy Metcalf, an Impressionist also working in Old Lyme. Fellow artists later fondly recalled Hoffman's antics at the Griswold house, which included playing the flute and banjo, tap-dancing, singing humorous songs, and performing magic tricks. In 1910 Hoffman...
