An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique George II English cast sterling silver candlesticks; an addition of our ornamental Georgian silverware collection
These exceptional antique George II cast sterling silver candlesticks have a plain classical English form.
The plain cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.
The waisted section of each column features a plain rounded quatrefoil shaped knop to the upper portion and to the lower a swept panelled segment to a plain circular knop; the upper knops bear traces of contemporary engraved crests depicting a wolf.
The columns of these Georgian silver candlesticks surmount plain circular sunken wells and are supported by square stepped bases accented with incurved corners.
Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.
