Yoshihiko Ueda Art

Japanese, b. 1957

Yoshihiko Ueda (1957- ) was born in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan and studied photography at Osaka Visual Arts College and in Tokyo. In 1982, Ueda became a fashion photographer. He also created fine art series of forests, flowers, and dancers, notably butoh dancers. Exhibitions of Ueda's work include Portraits in Fashion, Atlanta (1985); La Photographie Publicitaire Japonaise, Paris (1990); and Le Mois de la Photo (1995). A solo exhibition was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in 2003. In 1987, 1989, and 1996, Ueda received an ADC Award in New York and in 1993 the Cannes Graphic Award.
