Julius Caesar 18K Two-Tone Gold Men's Ring, Guilloché Enamel & Rubies
Located in London, GB
Julius Caesar men's signet ring in solid 18K white and yellow gold, featuring translucent red guilloché vitreous enamel, a sculptural gold portrait of Caesar and two natural rubies totalling approximately 0.08 carats. Alexandria's Face of Rome ring pays tribute to Gaius Julius Caesar, one of the most consequential figures of the ancient world. At its centre is Caesar's profile rendered in gold, inspired by the celebrated portrait attributed to Renaissance sculptor Andrea di Pietro di Marco Ferrucci. The portrait sits against a field of deep red vitreous Grand Feu enamel laid over engine-turned guilloché. The precisely engraved pattern beneath the translucent enamel catches and refracts the light, giving the surface a depth and movement impossible to achieve with painted or cold enamel. The ring combines solid 18K white and yellow gold, creating contrast between its architectural body and applied historical details. Flanking Caesar are two natural rubies, approximately 0.08 carats in total, set within sculptural Roman scutum motifs inspired by the shields carried by the legionaries under Caesar's command. The red enamel recalls both imperial Rome and the military palette associated with the Roman legions. Traditional guilloché and vitreous enamelling are techniques historically associated with the great European maisons and objets d'art of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Here, Alexandria reinterprets those disciplines within a substantial contemporary men's signet ring. Face of Rome is designed as a piece of wearable historical sculpture: bold enough to command attention, but executed using the materials and techniques of traditional high jewellery.
