This is a very good English "RUMMER" drinking glass, which were originally drinking glasses used in English taverns in the late 18th and early 19th century. The glass is handblown and made from lead glass, having a soft greyish colour. It has an ovoid bowl, well engraved with a band of swags and tails on a short wrythen stem, sitting on a conical foot, having a snapped off pontil below. The bowl is also vertically cut with narrow panels which rise vertically from the stem and stop at the shoulder. Overall a very good example of a Georgian drinking glass...

This is a superb hand-blown example of an Irish made, mid-Georgian, cordial wine drinking glass with a thick double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1765 to 1770. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour, with slight age related wear as expected with over 200 years of use. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th Century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm. These are a very good PAIR of antique Chinese foo or lion dog sculptures, sometimes called temple lions, made of a brass-bronze metal alloy, with excellent detail, dating to the early 19th century, Qing period or possibly earlier back to the 18th century. This is an early Russian orthodox travelling Icon, hand made of bronze, which we date to 18th Century or earlier. The bronze icon is cast with a main rectangular slightly curved shape with a smaller rectangular tab section above. The reverse has a hanging spigot cast into the top tab section. This piece has a mix of colours within the bronze with the high points being worn and shiny from wear and use. This antique bronze icon probably depicts Saint Nicholas as the central image with other figures ( children?) either side of the head, all within a border. There are other details on the icon including letters and numbers towards the top of the main rectangle. The tab section is also decorated. The reverse also carries decoration but is quite worn. Overall an early and very interesting Russian bronze Icon...

This is a rare and early stone China (Ironstone) mug which dates to the George 111 period, circa 1815 made by the Davenport factory of Longport, Staffordshire Potteries, England. The mug is straight sided similar to a coffee can and has a loop handle with an upper thumb rest. The pattern is number "659", which is one of Davenport's very few chinoiserie patterns. The bold pattern features striking polychrome enamels of rocks and different flowers all in the Chinoiserie style, hand painted over-glaze in different colours over an under-glaze blue printed outline. The pattern is embellished with good hand gilding. There is also a deep border pattern to the inside rim which replicates the outer mug pattern with sprigs of hand painted flowers. The mark on the base of the mug is Godden's 1183, a blue printed DAVENPORT STONE CHINA...

This is a superb Ironstone Sauce Tureen, complete with lid , made by Mason's of Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England, during the early part of the 19th century, circa 1820. This tureen is well potted and is hexagonal in shape with moulded animal head handles to the base and a flower head knob to the lid. The pattern is called "Water Lily" and is a well known Mason's pattern, as illustrated on pages 136 in The Mason's collectors Club book " A Guide to Mason's patent Ironstone patterns, c 1813 to c 1848" . This particular piece is the gilded version of the pattern and has heavily applied hand gilded highlights. Tureens of the same shape and period are illustrated on Pages 145 and 155 of Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares published by the Antique Collectors' Club. The pattern is beautifully hand painted over a printed pattern with bold enamels of Cobalt Blue, burnt orange, green, puce all in various shades with much additional hand gilding. The pieces are unmarked as was often the case if the item had formed part of a large dinner or desert service...

This is a good Chinese porcelain circular Platter or large plate, made for the export (Canton) market, during the middle of the 18th century, Qing-Qianlong period. The plate is well hand decorated with much detail in varying shades of cobalt blue, with a glaze of a very soft light blue shade. This is a very beautiful, highly decorative Tall Chinese bottle vase with a monochrome or single glaze colour of a fine sapphire-blue, which we date to the late 19th century, Qing period . This Chinese Export vase is well potted on a fairly tall foot, having a globular body, with a long cylindrical stick neck. On close inspection the glaze has a beautiful finely speckled texture, the depth of colour draining from the top rim where it is slightly lighter to a darker shade at the foot where the glaze thickens. The foot rim is well hand cut with an orange coloured iron oxide ring just above the foot rim and below the glaze, where the air hit the porcelain in the kiln. This is a heavy vase weighing about 2.75 Kg unpacked. The blue is a superb shade of dark sapphire / steel /dark sky blue colour. The inner neck area and centre of the base are also glazed. The base carries a hand painted six figure apocryphal Qing Kangxi ( 1662 to 1722) mark but this piece dates to the late 19th Century, in the later part of the Qing Dynasty. These single colour monochrome vases are often small with heights of about 7 or 8 inches but this is a much larger piece measuring well over 14 inches in height. Its elegant form, reminiscent of the traditional Guanyin vases...

This is a hand painted 17th century, late Ming dynasty, porcelain Jar or small Vase hand painted in a blue and white figural scene, which we attribute to the Wanli / transitional period, circa 1625 - 1640. This piece may be from the Hatcher shipwreck cargo but we have no certificate or paperwork to support this. Please note, since the Hatcher collection was auctioned by Christies in 1984/1985 ( 40 years ago) many pieces have now lost their original auction paperwork and certification. The Jar/ Vase is fairly thickly potted with a very white glaze to the porcelain. It is decorated with a man and a boy stood against a tree with rocks, mountains and flying bats in the background all hand painted in various shades of a clear under-glaze cobalt blue. The irregular shaped head, bald high forehead, and straight pencilled beard with moustache support this date and period. Overall a good Chinese Ming period porcelain small vase.
