On view now at the Duplex Gallery @ The Mill Building Williamsburg.
“The fantastic achievement of Italian Design is the incredibly rich cultural transfer into mass products. The influence of these pieces in the pop culture is incommensurable; I like to make a parallel with the Beatles in popular music. Perhaps, in our modern advanced digitalized democracies, design has lost a bit of its ingenuity and the utopic world is no longer being sought. I want this exhibit to be a tribute to the original vision that permeated the early years of Italian design.”
The exhibition feat selection of iconic pieces, with a focus on Acerbis: the “Free System” sofa and “Napoleone” table by Claudio Salocchi, “Due Più” chairs and “Storet” chests by Nanda Vigo and the “Florian”folding table by Vico Magistretti.

Made with refined processing techniques, a degrading shaded silvering mix and the magnificent iridescent metachromatic finish, a feature of the Shimmer collection. A magical, fascinating and animated mirror, continuously variable according to the angle of the light source and the vantage point.
Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo (Spain) in 1961. Lives and works in Milan. She attended the School of Architecture of Madrid Polytechnic and Milan Polytechnic, where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni. From 1990-1992 she was assistant lecturer to both Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli in Milan and Paris. From 1990-1996 she was responsible for the new product development office of DePadova, working with Vico Magistretti. In 1996 she became head of Lissoni Associati’s Design Group. In 2001 she opens her own studio working on product design, architecture, installations. Amongst her last projects of architecture: Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona and W Retreat&Spa a Vieques (Porto Rico); a villa in Udine; scenography of the opera “L’incoronazione di Poppea” by Monteverdi; showroom and installations for Hermès, Gianvito Rossi, Flos, Moroso, H&M and the general concept of Pitti Immagine Firenze. NESTOR PERKAL, born in Buenos Aires, lives and works in Paris. Though he trained as an architect, his work has always been oriented to design and interior architecture. In 1985, he founded an international design gallery in Paris, l’Espace Nestor Perkal, where he was among the first in Europe to show and sell pieces from the “New International Design” movement: Memphis Milano, Mariscal and many others.

Each mirror is never the same as the one before, nor as the one that comes after, as well as the leathers used to make it. Each hide, as it reaches the workshop, is hung on a frame/shelf and a hole is then made in its centre to see the mirror. Each hide is unique, as well as each mirror.
