Exceptional and highly collectible 1980s Bulgari earrings of bombe design, each centering on a vivid-red Burma ruby (approximately 2.5 carats each) and showcasing another 6 carats of very fine white diamonds, all set in 18 karat yellow gold. Two large oval rubies are of richly-saturated color and certified by GIA and AGL gem labs as Burma geographic origin. - Featuring approximately 6 carats of fine white (approximately F to G color, VVS to VS clarity) marquise, tapered-baguette and round diamonds - Showcasing 2 large oval rubies of approximately 2.5 carats each and a number of smaller buff-top rubies. As a feature of bombe-design, there is a gradual sloping upwards from outer bands to the center rubies that gives the earrings a wonderful 3-dimensional quality and volume. The bombe-design, with a prominent gemstone at its domed center, also echoes the iconic and enduring Bulgari Trombino design (introduced in their rings in the 1930s) which allowed a large gemstone to ‘stand proud’ on top of a pave and baguette diamond setting...
