Exceptional and highly collectible 1980s Bulgari earrings of bombe design, each centering on a vivid-red Burma ruby (approximately 2.5 carats each) and showcasing another 6 carats of very fine white diamonds, all set in 18 karat yellow gold. Two large oval rubies are of richly-saturated color and certified by GIA and AGL gem labs as Burma geographic origin. - Featuring approximately 6 carats of fine white (approximately F to G color, VVS to VS clarity) marquise, tapered-baguette and round diamonds - Showcasing 2 large oval rubies of approximately 2.5 carats each and a number of smaller buff-top rubies. Both large oval rubies are certified by GIA as Burma geographic origin and of vivid richly saturated color - These earrings showcase iconic Bulgari 1980s bombe design that is a true collector's item and rare to come by - Clip-on earrings measuring 1 inch (2.5cm) in length and width and in excellent condition - Signed Bvlgari with a stamp for 18 karat gold - These earrings pair beautifully with Cartier ruby and diamond necklace from the same 1980s period (see additional photos) which is a separate listing in our inventory Detailed design description: Central oval rubies are encircled by alternating bands of smaller diamonds and rubies creating an eye-catching color contrast that Bulgari is celebrated for. As a feature of bombe-design, there is a gradual sloping upwards from outer bands to the center rubies that gives the earrings a wonderful 3-dimensional quality and volume. The bombe-design, with a prominent gemstone at its domed center, also echoes the iconic and enduring Bulgari Trombino design (introduced in their rings in the 1930s) which allowed a large gemstone to ‘stand proud’ on top of a pave and baguette diamond setting...
