About MR Architecture + Decor

MR Architecture + Decor is a 30-person studio based in New York City and led by founding partner David Mann. The firm’s scope of work extends from ground-up construction and renovation to interior architecture, design and decoration for residential, retail and other commercial spaces. The MR aesthetic is characterized by diversity and unified by an essential clarity. Design evolves out of intimate dialogue: between the client and the architect, between the architect and the site. The results reflect clients’ needs and desires, their unique characters as filtered through the MR vision, and reveal a beautifully calibrated balance between form and function.

In the 20 years since the firm’s inception, MR has garnered considerable attention from a number of the world’s most prestigious industry publications. One of the more notable projects is a solar-powered, geothermal house located in upstate New York, featured in the New York Times ‘T’ Magazine. Other work includes the flagship Christian Dior men’s and women’s stores in Manhattan, the Parker PS Hotel in Palm Springs, a private art gallery in the pacific northwest and flagship stores for fashion brands Pierre Hardy, Lanvin and J. Mendel. Distinguished residential projects include a 12,000 square foot duplex loft in soho, a new, ground-up townhouse on the upper east side, a fifth avenue apartment for a renowned art collector, a model apartment at the one57 tower on Central Park South, and a Park Avenue duplex featured in Architectural Digest.

In 2015, MR completed a 5000 square foot SoHo loft, the gut renovation of a 7000 square foot Central Park West apartment and ground-up waterfront home on Shelter Island. Current projects include the renovation and decoration of a vacation house in Aspen, a small, mixed-use, ground-up building in Tribeca, the interior design for a luxury residential tower in downtown Manhattan, and a recording studio in SoHo.
