About the Item

A fine and impressive antique George IV English sterling silver vinaigrette; an addition to our silver boxes collection. This impressive antique George IV sterling silver vinaigrette has a rounded rectangular form. The surface of the box is embellished with fine and impressive engraved wrigglework forming an interlacing trellis design with a matte background and incorporating a vacant oval cartouche. The antique silver vinaigrette retains the original hinged cover featuring a plain thumbpiece and allows access to the original hinged, pierced and wrigglework decorated grille. The grille opens to reveal the original sponge. The interior of the vinaigrette and grille retain the original gilding. Condition This antique vinaigrette is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition. Full hallmarks to the interior of the base and cover in addition to the part hallmarks to the grille are all very clear. Dimensions Length 2.1cm/0.8". Width 1.7cm/0.7". Height 0.6cm/0.2".
