An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver castle top vinaigrette depicting Abbotsford House, an addition to our collectable box collection. This exceptional antique silver vinaigrette has a rectangular form with rounded corners. The cover of this fine vinaigrette is embellished with a scene of Abbotsford House in high relief. The sides of the box are encompassed with bands of chased scrolling leaf ornamenation. The underside of the box is ornamented with engine turned decoration incorporating a plain rectangular vacant cartouche. Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders. The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged, pierced decorated silver gilt grille. The vinaigrette retains the original gilding; this has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion to an aesthetically pleasing mellow color. This exceptional vinaigrette was crafted by the renowned silversmith Nathaniel Mills. A historical country house which was the former residence of renowned novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, situated in the Scottish Borders. Condition This antique vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The decoration is very sharp. Has a great provenance and was designed by the famous silversmiths and retail store of Finnigans Limited, back in the 1932. The thematic of this box is rare and very popular. Has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver standard with gilded interiors. The case has been made in a cushioned compact shape with eight barrels hinge and a push pressure thumb. The main panel on top is illustrated with a landscape scene and a Formula-1 racing red car, with the number L6, all realized with polychrome enamels. The reverse is embellished with engine turned guilloche decorations. This fine piece is masterfully worked with extreme details and is a very especial example for any collector, or a wonderful gift for someone special. It is in perfect preserved condition. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver and enamel box made by Liberty & Co Ltd in the Arts & Crafts style; an addition to our diverse range of antique silver boxes and cases. This exceptional Edwardian sterling silver and enamel box has a plain rectangular form. The body of this antique enameled box is plain and unembellished. This antique silver box is fitted with the original domed hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with an exceptional and impressive hand painted enamel panel depicting a river bank scene incorporating a plain beam bridge with a simple handrail. The enamel panel is encompassed with a paralleling scalloped border accented with rope twist ornamentation. The chamfered portion of the cover is further ornamented with an iconic Arts & Crafts style applied lobed border. The interior of the box retains the original gilding; this box can be refitted with a bespoke velvet jewelry box fitment upon request. This impressive antique silver box was crafted by the collectable silversmith Liberty & Co Ltd. Large Arts & Crafts style boxes with an enamel panel are uncommon and becoming increasingly rare to the market. Note: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior; it is a sign of quality when boxes have gilded, unlined interiors in addition to a solid silver cover. This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver commemorative box has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners. The subtly domed hinged cover of the box retains the original transfer depicting portraits of King Edward VII and Alexandra of Denmark in addition to the coat of arms of Leeds.
