The Tea Caddy in the form of a coopered barrel complete with two thick brass straps around a beautifully patinated body with a mahogany plinth having a cavetto edge. This exceptional Edwardian sterling silver and enamel box has a plain rectangular form. The body of this antique enameled box is plain and unembellished. This antique silver box is fitted with the original domed hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with an exceptional and impressive hand painted enamel panel depicting a river bank scene incorporating a plain beam bridge with a simple handrail. The enamel panel is encompassed with a paralleling scalloped border accented with rope twist ornamentation. The underside of this box has a subtly concave form proffering a comfortable fit in the majority of pockets. The surface of this antique silver tobacco box is plain and unembellished. This silver tobacco tin or box retains the original sprung flush hinged hallmarked subtly convex cover, which opens by applying gentle pressure to each side. The interior of the box retains the original gilding. This antique Edwardian piece is an exceptional example for its type. An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver and rock crystal combination vinaigrette/thread spool holder in the form of a carriage lamp; an addition to our diverse collectible silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / thread holder has been realistically modeled in the form of a carriage lamp. The body of the vessel is embellished with impressive chased scrolling leaf decoration, accented with plain silver borders. The anterior surface of the antique silver holder bears a feature bezel set cabochon cut rock crystal panel, displaying the initials MAUD; this protruding panel replicates the location of the lamp's light. The posterior of the vessel features an impressive hallmarked plain belt loop/hook fastening. The piece retains the original domed hinged cover ornamented with tiered panels embellished with further scrolling leaf decoration. The cover is surmounted with a plain ring loop attachment and opens to reveal the original thread spool. The underside of the lamp is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which opens to reveal the vinaigrette with the original push fit grille and gilding. The grille is ornamented with an engraved and pierced decorated floral rosette design. The interior of the antique vinaigrette cover bears a Victorian lozenge mark which certifies the patent of the design on 8th September 1869 with the UK Patent Office. This large antique paper mâché and lacquered box is unsigned, but presumed to have been made in England in circa 1870 in the period Aesthetic Movement style. The box was made as a sewing chest, but could be adapted for other purposes such as a jewelry box. The box is composed of paper mâché with a glossy black lacquered finish. The stepped top has scalloped edges and a detailed border of inlaid mother of pearl done with a floral motif. The central portion of the box's top is done with large pieces of mother of pearl or abalone shell and accented with flaked gilt details. The front and sides of the box are accented with hand-painted gilt detailing and the inside of the top is hand painted with floral accents. The inner tray of this box is divided into several compartments, some having fabric covered lids with molded handles. The inside of the box is paper lined in the same blue patterned paper as the tray. There is small brass lock on the front of the box, but there is no key. The box is finished with round squat biscuit shaped feet. Please note that due to the composition of this box, it may only be shipped within Canada.
