Circa third quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly earlier Exquisitely decorated in colours of turquoise on white glazed ground with lavish gold highlights. Each cast silver snake model is surmounted with a circular baluster shaped capital, embellished with bands of leaf decoration; each hallmarked detachable capital secures with a screw fitment. The cobra shaped columns of the candlesticks are ornamented with details reproducing the snake's scales and anatomical features. These magnificent candlesticks are the finest examples of their type you could hope to acquire. NOTE: These candlesticks bear the foreign manufatcure hallmark alongside the full Scottish marks; it can be determined that George Edward & Sons were the importers.
