Antique Pair Swedish Five Light Silver Plated Candelabra A.G. Dufva 19th Century

By Dufva Sverige

Located in London, GB

This is a beautiful large pair of Swedish antique silver plated, five light, four-branch table candelabra by A. G. DUFVA, Stockholm, circa 1880 in date, The candelabra’s each feature detachable scroll design branches with detachable sconces and exquisite knopped columns raised on shaped square shield bases decorated with acanthus leaves. The attention to detail is absolutely fantastic and they are certain to attract attention wherever they are placed. Condition: In excellent condition with clear makers marks and no dings, dents or signs of repair. Please see photos for confirmation. Dimensions in cm: Height 59 cm x Width 34 cm x Depth 34 cm Dimensions in inches: Height 1 foot, 11 inches x Width 1 foot, 1 inch x Depth 1 foot, 1 inch A.G. Dufva was a prominent 19th-century Swedish silver and silver plate manufacturer founded by Anders Gabriel Dufva in 1847 in Stockholm. Known for high-quality plated household items, cutlery, and decorative pieces, the company became a royal purveyor and operated until 1936. : Founded by  Anders Gabriel Dufva (1822–1897), a trained goldsmith who established his workshop on Drottninggatan. He was one of Sweden’s first manufacturers of silver-plated items, often producing intricate items in Art Nouveau style. It is stamped A.G.Dufva N.S. X which refers to Axel Gabriel Dufva, the mark "N.S." stands for Nysilver, which is Swedish for "new silver" or nickel silver (an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc, usually silver-plated). The "X" in your query likely refers to a date letter or specific stamp. Legacy: After 1933, the firm was incorporated into Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB) but continued producing items under the name until 1936. Pieces from A.G. Dufva are highly sought after by collectors of antique Swedish silverware...

By Pierre Forssell, Skultuna, Svenskt Tenn, Pierre Forsell, Josef Frank

Located in Malmö, SE

A pair of vintage beautiful brass candle holders with amazing patina. For ordinary (22 mm.) or large candles (50 mm.). Made by Skultuna Messingsbruk, Sweden, 1940s. Great original condition. Can be polished if you prefer that. Stamped with makers mark. Skultuna Messingsbruk, often just called Skultuna, is one of Sweden’s oldest industrial companies — in fact, one of the oldest still active manufacturers in the world. It was founded in 1607 by King Karl IX. The location for the factory was chosen carefully: it is in Skultuna, near Västerås, where the brook Svartån provides water power, there was access to raw materials (copper from the mine at Falun), and ample wood for charcoal. From the start, the foundry made things like brass plates, candlesticks, chandeliers, combining craft and design. Some early pieces are still preserved — for example, the oldest known Skultuna chandelier...
