A breathtaking 19th-century French "Porte-Montre" (pocket watch holder) whimsically designed in the form of a miniature chair. Crafted during the Napoleon III / Palais Royal era, this exquisite desk display piece features a natural mother-of-pearl shell seat, elegantly framed by delicate gilt brass wirework with flowing cabriole-style legs. Suspended from the top hook is a meticulously carved mother-of-pearl maple leaf that acts as a decorative backrest, complemented by a matching carved leaf dangling below the seat rail. The top hook was specifically designed to hold a pocket watch or pocket watch pendant, allowing the timepiece to rest gracefully above the iridescent shell bowl. Radiating soft pink and green iridescence, the natural shell harmonizes beautifully with the aged brass patina. Offered in exceptional antique condition with intact mother-of-pearl elements. A rare, highly desirable collector’s piece for enthusiasts of French Palais Royal vanity objects and antique pocket watch displays.

Very rare collectible desktop telephone L. M. Ericsson model BC 2000 (Old Catalogue No. 400) for battery ringing. Exclusive and unusual design in the form of an old times book press. Framework of polished walnut. Micro-telephone RE 2002 (Old Cat. No. 520) with cord RS 7021 (Old Cat. No. 2252) and switch in the handle resting on a cradle switch, flexible cable, RS 9000 (Old Cat. No. 2084) and terminal block within Ericssons serial number that dates device on 1900 Stockholm, Sweden. Size app.: 22.5 cm (roughly 8.9 in) high, 27 cm (roughly 10.6 in) wide, 11 cm (roughly 4.3 in) deep. Very good condition, age and usage wear plus tiny losses. Please study high-res pictures for cosmetic condition! In person actual item may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 2 kg it is going to measure some 3 kg packed for shipment. Lars Magnus Ericsson began his association with telephones in his youth as an instrument maker. He worked for a firm which made telegraph equipment for the Swedish government agency Telegrafverket. In 1876, aged 30, he started a telegraph repair shop with help from his friend Carl Johan Andersson. The shop was in central Stockholm (No. 15 on Drottninggatan, the principal shopping street) and repaired foreign-made telephones. In 1878 Ericsson began making and selling his own telephone equipment. His phones were not technically innovative, as most of the inventions had already been made in the US. In 1878, he made an agreement to supply telephones and switchboards to Sweden's first telecom operating company, Stockholms Allmänna Telefonaktiebolag. Also in 1878, local telephone importer Numa Peterson hired Ericsson to adjust some telephones from the Bell Telephone Company. This inspired him to buy a number of Siemens telephones...

Pair of Antique 19th Century Penwork Display Stands Faux-Calamander Faux-Bois Turned Wood Watch Tazzas, c.1860 An incredibly rare and highly collectible pair of mid-19th-century English turned display stands or watch tazzas, dating to circa 1860. Masterfully turned on a lathe from a fine-grained hardwood, these diminutive pedestals have been beautifully hand-decorated utilising the historic technique of penwork and graining to simulate highly prized calamander (or coromandel) wood. The surface boasts a rich, warm honey-brown base, meticulously hand-painted with fine, undulating charcoal and jet-black "tiger stripes" that wrap entirely around the circular tops and baluster stems, perfectly capturing the prized faux-bois aesthetic. Each stand features a shallow, dished top with a finely raised rim, supported by an elegant, classical vase-turned column that tapers down to a stepped, circular plinth base. A key indicator of their exceptional age and authentic construction is the early, hand-cut wooden screw mechanism, allowing each pedestal to be effortlessly unscrewed into two separate components. Dating from the mid-Victorian era, small, high-quality turned tazzas of this scale were luxury items designed for the dressing tables, library desks, or bedside cabinets of affluent households. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver and glass ladies inkstand; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This exceptional antique George III sterling silver desk Standish has a navette shaped form onto four bracket feet. This inkstand is encompassed with an applied thread decorated border, in addition to the contemporary engraved initials 'WW'. The rim of the body of the sterling silver inkstand is ornamented with a paralleling applied reed decorated border. The internal wirework style frame of the stand is divided into three rounded supports. Each internal compartment retains the original rounded glass bottles with cut glass ornamentation in addition to impressive scalloped bases. The ink, pen/quill and pounce bottles retain the original plain silver cylindrical mounts fitted with push fit hallmarked covers. The rim of each circular cover is encircled with applied moulded borders and bears the corresponding functional pierced decorated holes.
