18th Century Louis XIV Italian Gilt Frames Pair of Oval Small Frames From Rome
Located in Milano, MI
From Italy Rome, a unique Louis XIV Pair of 1700s Italian Giled Terracotta Frames, they are almost a pair of similar form and age but with slight differences. The two lovely small oval frames were probably made for framing oval miniatures, they are empty now, come from a private Italian collection and can be used as mirrors. They are in good condition consistent with age, they are older than 300 years, with old restorations and minor losses in a few curls and small felures. See, closed-up picture details. It is more common to find these kinds of antique small frames...

Frame, Wood, Late 17th-Early 18th Century
Located in Madrid, ES
Framework. Carved wood, late 17th-early 18th century.
Rectangular frame that presents a "base structure" of straight lines, combining moldings of different widths and finishes (inside, a golden band with Fine plant details towards the corners; then a thin red one, and a wider green one, these two the latter imitating marble; outside, another fine gilt molding), enhanced with a series of carvings of vegetal elements in the corners (symmetrical composition), two ovoid elements on the long sides and a highly elaborate cresting with vegetal elements, rockeries, scrolls, flowers and imitation of fabrics (which are joined with those ovoid elements mentioned).
The combination of red, green and gold is common in certain types of frames (compare, for example, with the terracotta of Salamanca made around the middle of the 16th century by Juan de Juni, which is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum). On it, a series of carvings with a lot of movement and depth have been added, showing Baroque influence (reminiscent in certain details of works such as the frame of the Immaculate Conception by Alonso Cano...

18th Century, Italian Baroque Giltwood Mirror
By Andrea Brustolon
Located in IT
18th century, Italian baroque giltwood mirror
This fine Baroque mirror was made in Venice (Italy) at the beginning of the 18th century, Louis XV Era.
The rectangular mirror is circumscribed by a golden wooden frame with three bands: an internal one carved with a palmette pattern, a central one smooth and an external one with phytomorphic elements. Around it develops a real triumph of gold carvings, with large volutes, curls and foliated elements carved in the openwork wood. The refined richness of the carvings finds maximum expression in the cymatium in which stands a large crown placed at the top of the phytomorphic elements.
Stylistically the mirror can be approached to the works of the famous wooden sculptor Andrea Brustolon (Belluno, 20 July 1662-25 October 1732), great protagonist of the Venetian Baroque.
Highly decorative and of great executive quality, this mirror will bring elegance, light and warmth in every room, placed over a dresser or a console, inserted in a living room, a study, an entrance hall, but also in a bedroom. Very refined and of remarkable sculptural virtuosity it is suitable next to antique furniture...
