Japanese Meiji Bronze Champlevé Enamel Incense Burner, Geisha & Ryu/Shishi
Located in New York, NY
Japanese Meiji Period Bronze Champlevé Enamel Incense Burner w/ Geisha & Ryu/Shishi Presenting a splendid masterpiece from the revered Meiji Period, behold an exquisite Japanese bronze incense burner adorned with Champlevé enamel. This remarkable piece showcases captivating hand-carved bronze mounts depicting a geisha on the main bowl and a Ryu/Shishi atop its lid. The geisha, meticulously crafted with utmost precision, graces the central bowl. Flowing robes adorned with elegant spirals serenely encircle the vessel. In a harmonious tableau, the geisha delicately engages with a Sheng pipe. The crowning glory of this masterpiece lies in its magnificent bronze Ryu/Shishi, majestically positioned atop the burner's lid. The vibrant bronze scrolls enveloping the Ryu/Shishi visually capture the enchanting sounds emanating from the Geisha's Sheng performance below. Delicate scrolling cutouts beneath the feet of the mythical creature add an irresistible allure while acting as conduits for the graceful diffusion of incense smoke. Enhancing the regal charm of the burner, three patinated bronze jeweled elephant...

Antique French Polished Copper Milk Container, circa 1890
Located in Dallas, TX
Before the advent of refrigerated trucks, metal milk containers, such as this French polished copper from circa 1890, would be used by dairy farmers to transport milk to customers. The farmers would load several of these containers with fresh milk, where patrons would fill their personal vessels at the market before traveling home. To prevent spillage during the voyage, most of the milk containers had a handle that kept the lid in place, such as our container, which still has the original lid and handle. Although no longer needed for transporting milk in today’s world, our polished copper milk...

Antique French Faience Confit Pot or Egg Pot with White Glaze
Located in Birmingham, AL
Antique French pot de confit or confit pot, circa 1890s, from Martres-Tolosone, a small village in southwest France renowned for the pottery manufacturers called Faïenceries de Martres-Tolosane. The pottery or earthenware factories of Martres-Tolosane were established during the 18th century on the banks of the Garonne River, where clay deposits suitable for making earthenware were found. During the 18th century, there were a dozen Martraise earthenware factories listed, but the French Revolution and competition from England, especially, caused production to slow, leaving only two factories remaining by 1790. This utilitarian pot has a stunning white glaze and two handles, referred to as ears, and was originally used for preserving fruits or vegetables and to store eggs. Beautifully decorative, it will be a wonderful addition to any collection and add a touch of French Country charm wherever it's placed. French confit pots having an off white color like this one are not to be confused with typical confit pots that have brightly colored glazes only on the top half. Both have similar uses but the white glazed pots...
