About the Item

A heavy, cast bronze ashtray by Maurice Ascalon in a nautilus shape has a fluted, flat edge that widens as it spirals around the well, which has a hammered texture. The concave portions of the fluting are finished with a verdigris patina that typifies Israeli decorative arts of the mid-century period, a field in which Pal-Bell (under Ascalon’s direction) was a leader. An embossed stamp on underside reads “Pal-Bell Co. Made in Israel." Dimensions 5.5” width x 5” depth x 1.25” height. Condition Good vintage condition with age appropriate patina. Multiple available all with varying patina and coloring. Please inquire if you would like a specific coloration pictured.
